Ranged classes seem to have the advantage hugely in pvp (at least before lvl 50), melee is sorta fucked before then and have kinda been shit on, but it's still fun.

A templar (tank) lasts stupidly long in pvp, but you're still usually the first target because you can 'pull' people into your group.

Healers are usually the first or second target, healers are what make pvp... they're awesome, but slow levelers (especially solo).

SMs are stupidly good solo, seriously. (Rangers are up there, and sorcs arn't too far behind).

Assassins suck at solo PvP; the only reason you see 50 out of the top 100 on the Korean AP lists is because Assassins are the fastest solo grinding class, even more so at 50 apparently. If you take into account all their cons however, Assassins have been heavily nerfed and are a rather average DPS class.

Play at your own risk. I'd recommend sticking to a ranged class. Seems Spiritmasters and Rangers are having the most fun; yet Templars and Clerics get the most invites. If I were to re-roll or roll an alt right this moment, it would probably be a Cleric.

Assassins are tied for nr1 on Korean dps parsers ;) And geared well can kill a templar with 1 well-timed chain.
Spiritmaster is a fun class, especially in PvP, but we are quite unwanted in groups.
Was gonna say what class i would choose now...but i have no idea 0.o All classes are awesome.
Wanna nuke stuff from range? Go for Sorcerer or Ranger.
Melee dps? Assassin or Gladiator.
Main-healer? Cleric.
Support/Healing? Chanter.
Tank? Templar.
CC-focused/support ranged? Spiritmaster.

As Shu said you will get a group very easily as a templar or cleric, but soloing might take a bit more time due to lower damage.
For PvP SM and Cleric is the FotM 1on1-classes, while Sorcerers and Rangers are the kings of group PvP. Templars also shine in group PvP, due to inescapable judgment (pulling ability) and their high survivability.

Some classes are weak at lower lvls, but become better the higher lvl you get: Glad, Assa, Ranger.
Some classes might seem very OP at lowlvls, but is balanced more 40+: SM, Cleric.

Haven't tried all classes, but this seems to be the general opinion of the AionSource forums at least ;)
